Complexity is the Best State for Growth

The state of Complexity is the only way to grow, so you must embrace change and a level of uncertainty.  Staying in a state of Order for too long will lead you away from growth. A certain level of Order is healthy and desirable, but you must strive to move away continually. Complexity is the state of changed order and a path toward growth through discomfort.

Chaos Can Stagger Growth

As I commented on the previous blog, there are different levels of comfort and growth on the Growth Ring.  The Four levels are Stagnation, Chaos, Order and Complexity.  We will review each one over (2) blogs. A state of Stagnation is low performing and lacking growth as the person or organization are based on following too many structured steps, inflexible rules and repeating methods. Stagnation stifles creativity and change.

Comfort Can Lead to Stagnation

Are you too comfortable? These questions may seem very simple and make you question if anyone can be too comfortable.  We sometimes think of comfort and lack of challenge as a state of bliss. As you go through life and the daily challenges, you may dream about a time that you can be without worry or obstacles.  I challenge that being too comfortable and lacking challenge could lead to a state of stagnation and limited growth in your life.
